Christmas 2022 started a winter road trip west, and Moro Bay State Park in southern Arkansas was the first park on the way. I set up at the campsite under a tarp and got on the air as the sun went down.
The 20 QSOs came in a little over an hour, split evenly between 20 and 30 meters, all FT8. On 20 meters the band opened south: the two longest contacts were in Argentina and Chile, more than 4,800 miles away.
Over the next two weeks the same trip added Kartchner Caverns in Arizona, Elephant Butte Lake in New Mexico, Lake Colorado City and Lake Whitney in Texas, and Jimmie Davis in Louisiana.
POTA credited 19 QSOs (Dec 25: 7, Dec 26: 12). A day needs 10 QSOs to count as a valid activation.

Each line runs from the activation to the center of the other station's grid square, so it shows the direction and distance, not an exact location.
